Hot Chocolate 15k Race

Sherri and I have been training for the 15k Hot Chocolate Race that took place near St. Anthony Main in downtown Minneapolis today. My parents were gracious enough to drop us off at the starting line where runners were already packing into the corals. We busted our butts alongside 2,255 die-hard runners, all dominating the surrounding streets and walkways along the Mississippi river. The event raised support for the Ronald McDonald House charity. It was a gorgeous 75 degree day. The only downer was a fairly brisk headwind that we had to trudge through for a 5 mile stretch. Sherri ran her longest distance ever with a time of 1hr. 39min. 57sec., finishing smack-dab in the middle of the pack. I finished 12th place overall, and 2nd in my age class, with a time of 1hr. 3min. 11sec. At the finish line, we were cheered on by my parents, together with my brother Joe and his family. It was a fun way to be out-and-about on a beautiful weekend day together. We took a much needed nap after we got home, tending to a few blisters and some sore muscles- totally worth it!
